چکیده

On July 7tli, 1893, Kali, a Hindu labourer, aged about 27, was admitted to the Monghyr Hospital, with the history that a large bag of salt had fallen on the back of his head. Paraplegia secondary to fracture-subluxation of the thoracic spine sustained playing rugby union football.

Fractures of the spinal column during rugby matches of all codes are rare but catastrophic, especially when associated with spinal cord injury. The cervical spine is vulnerable during trauma to the head and neck in contact sports. Spinal injuries reported during rugby matches have almost exclusively involved the cervical region, often with neurological sequelae. This is the first reported case ...

Treatment for Lateral Flexion Fracture Dislocation of the Cervical Spine: Report of Two Cases

The injury mechanism of traumatic cervical spine injury varies, and Allen et al. divide cervical spine injuries into 6 types based on the direction of external force at the time of injury. In this report, we present 2 cases as Lateral Flexion Stage 2. A 51-year-old male (Case 1) was injured in a traffic accident. Isolated C5 Vertebrae Dislocation with Trauma: An Extremely Rare Case of Isolated C5 Dislocation

BACKGROUND Total spondylolisthesis, or dislocation of 1 cervical vertebrae, is only caused by high-energy trauma and is usually fatal. Cervical spine fractures and dislocations often cause 3-column structural damage to the cervical spine, injury to the spinal cord, and precipitating alignment of the cervical vertebrae, as well as cervical instability, which are detrimental, show poor prognosis,...

The Mechanism of Injury to the Spinal Cord in the Neck without Damage to the Vertebral

The discrepancy between damage to the spinal cord and to the vertebral column in cervical injuries has been the subject of comment by many authors. Both cord damage without vertebral column injury, and vertebral fracture and dislocation without cord dysfunction, are recognised. This communication concerns the former group. The commonly observed anatomical displacement in skeletal injuries of th...
